The second convening of the National Case Closed Project (NCCP), hosted by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and RTI International, was held on March 25-26, 2025 at RTI International's Headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC. This convening included presentations and discussions from a diverse group of stakeholders on agency needs to improve shooting clearance rates, research and practices regarding effective organizational practices for responding to shootings, the use of technology in investigating fatal and nonfatal shootings, supporting victims of gun violence, prosecution strategies, and effective communication and media engagement.
More than 115 participants from 44 unique organizations representing law enforcement as well as prosecution, crime analysis, forensic science, victim advocacy, and community serving organizations attended the convening. Each panel session fostered meaningful engagement and sparked discussions that could benefit all jurisdictions in increasing clearance rates and supporting victims and communities.
